Layne Bruce, also known by his YouTube username publisher73, is a longtime member of The Weather Channel fandom based in the Jackson, Mississippi, area. He is well-known for his longstanding YouTube channel, which was created in 2007 and features a variety of Weather Channel content, most notably longplay clips of the network and local forecast clips.

History

Bruce created an account on the TWC Classics forums on March 11, 2005; it is probable he was active on the weather.com/TWC Message Boards as he registered only four days after the TWC Classics forums were reestablished, and the forums initially saw growth as a result of advertising on the TWC boards. He continued to be active on the TWC Classics forums through their merger with TWC Today in April 2010 but stopped his activity there in December of that year.

He created his YouTube channel on August 18, 2007. In the early years of the channel, his uploads primarily consisted of short video clips taken from longer TWC tapes, including network promos, commercials, live weather segments, and local forecasts. The channel underwent upload hiatuses from early 2011 to mid-2013, late 2013 to mid-2015, mid-2015 to early 2019, and early 2019 to early 2020. Bruce's return in 2020 marked a major shift towards uploading longplay content such as live weather coverage and network specials, a trend which continued through December 2023. This was followed by another hiatus in early 2024, but uploads began again in early 2025.
