Fat Guys in the Woods was a longform reality television program centered around educating men with sedentary lifestyles about basic survival skills and putting those skills to the test. The program premiered on The Weather Channel for 16 episodes between 2014 and 2015 and was hosted by the network's then-survival expert Creek Stewart.[2]
Premise
The show was a weekly program consisting of eight sixty-minute episodes per season. Each week, Creek Stewart would coach three new participants through basic survival skills, after which the participants would be required to survive in the wilderness on their own. Skills taught included shelter construction, starting fires, and foraging and hunting for food.
The show premiered on August 10, 2014, and its last episode premiered on July 26, 2015.[3] News of the cancellation of the series circulated in December 2015.[4]
Reception
The show amassed an above-average rating of 6.7 out of 10 on IMDb based on 152 user reviews.[5] Among The Weather Channel's fan community, however, the reception was far more negative, with users noting the unusual title and premise and its minimal connection to the network's original premise of weather reporting.[6]
